THEY CALL HER "THE CAPTAIN" — among other epithets, none of which pass for her given name. Mariner, sailor, legend of salt and sea sky: 'Solvara' to most, 'de Scoril' to some. Lean sea brigands skulking up and down the eastern coasts call 'ware!' the sloop 'ETERNAL', her vessel, once a hound of the Eastern ports. Those striped sails once daggered as far west as the blood-warm straits of the Cieldalaes, the sun-weathered hands of its dogged crew doing hard work as it was commanded by that dark-eyed hunter. The captain, the teal-hearted patriot who outlasted the Empire. Some say she's a real phantom now, half a sea memory, persisting out there under her last wish: 'do not forget me.' Forget not the Dalmascan who dared.

SEAFARERS AND SHIPWRIGHTS
The legend of Captain Solvara may not reach far beyond Eastern shores or cohorts of the Imperial wars, but wherever it lands, it lasts. Commanding the three-masted sloop THE ETERNAL of the (now-defunct) Dalmascan Navy, Captain Solvara and her crew haunted sea routes and channels south of Valnain. There, they terrorized Imperial vessels and tested blockades. The Eternal is rumored to be lost, or, at least, missing at sea. The captain's skill as a navigator and commander can be bought and serviced for the right price—so long as you have your own ship.
DALMASCANS
In Rabanastre, the family 'de Scoril' were reliable merchants in the spell trade, dealing in goods and reagents for arcanists, conjurers, and thaumaturges alike. Generations of mercantile prowess eventually won them crown contracts and elevation of the late eldest son to a title of minor gentry, deigning the family a small plot of land outside the city proper. Lord and Lady de Scoril perished in the city's fall, but their good merchant name lives on. Their wayward daughter, the captain, does nothing to further it.

PIRATES AND BRIGANDS
Captain Solvara's reputation as a pirate hunter precedes her ruthless sorties with the Empire. Freebooter crews, corsairs, corrupt privateers, smugglers, and other seafaring rovers might have heard of or even encountered the 'Sea Serpent' during her tenacious sea patrols. Very likely, any pirate or brigand remembers this woman with acrimony—or, at least, very little fondness. Scores exist to be settled, and nothing feels quite so grand as making good on an old grudge...

THE GARLEAN EMPIRE
Born in a city quickly stifled by occupation, the Captain nurtures a lifelong resentment against the Imperial forces that once dominated Dalmasca. With the Empire defeated, and Rabanastre now naught but rubble, there stands a chance this horizon-hawking hunter might be on the lookout for officers and authorities who presided over her homeland. Possibly, too, those authorities are keeping a sharp eye out for her.

DUELISTS AND SWASHBUCKLERS
A challenge, a second, a brace of pistols over rapiers at dawn: across the East, the Captain's name lingers in tales of combat, honor, and old-fashioned derring-do. Have you the guile to throw down your handkerchief and test the best? Perhaps you've been bested once, and that was one time too many—or, you seek a rematch, thinking the captain dares boast about a duel she did not rightfully win.
